Ce workshop d'une demi-journée propose des conseils pratiques aux doctorant∙e∙s pour l'élaboration de leurs projets de recherche en droit. Nous discuterons notamment comment comprendre le concept d'originalité (ou de l'importance de la contribution au développement des connaissances) dans le domaine juridique et comment évaluer si une question de recherche est appropriée pour votre projet doctoral en droit et ce qui peut être fait pour passer d'un vaste domaine de recherche ou d'un intérêt thématique à une question de recherche juridique ciblée. Nous réserverons aussi du temps pour essayer de répondre à vos nombreuses questions importantes qui peuvent se poser durant un doctorat, tant sur l'organisation du projet, son financement, l'encadrement ou la vie autour ou après une thèse en droit.

Cette demi-journée vise notamment les doctorant∙e∙s en début de thèse et tout∙e∙s celles et ceux qui s'interrogent sur l'élaboration et la conceptualisation de leurs questions de recherche. Ce séminaire est ouvert à tous et toutes, indépendamment de l'année d'inscription en thèse. L'atelier sera animé par la Prof. Evelyne Schmid (UNIL), ainsi que Dr. Dario Hug qui a soutenu sa thèse à l'Université de Neuchâtel en 2019. 

Attention : l'atelier sera bilingue (avec les présentations en anglais et des questions-réponses dans les deux langues). Des connaissances passives de l'anglais sont nécessaires.

This half-day workshop offers practical advice to doctoral students on the development of their legal research projects. In particular, we will discuss how to understand the concept of originality (or the importance of contribution to the development of knowledge) in the legal field, how to assess whether a research question is appropriate for your legal doctoral project, and what can be done to move from a broad research area or thematic interest to a focused legal research question. Time will also be set aside to try and answer the many important questions you may have during a doctorate, whether on the organization of the project, funding, supervision, or life around or after a legal thesis.

This half-day event is aimed in particular at doctoral researchers at the start of their thesis, and generally all those who wonder about the issues involved in elaborating and conceptualizing their research questions. It is open to all, regardless of when the thesis was formally started. The workshop will be led by Prof. Evelyne Schmid (UNIL) and Dr. Dario Hug, who defended his thesis at the University of Neuchâtel in 2019.

Please note: the workshop will be bilingual and passive knowledge of French will be highly useful (the presentations will be in English, with questions and answers in both languages.)
